The city center is full of architectural and cultural wonders, full of palaces, museums, and sights to overwhelm even the hungriest culture-hunter. The Winter Palace (home to the Hermitage museum) is of course crème de la crème but there are plenty of other museums covering a wide variety of topics and interests.
